Parent View - Give Ofsted your view on your child's school

Letter from the Headteacher

Dear Parents,

May I warmly welcome you to East Cowton Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School. The children, staff, governors and parents of our community are rightly proud of the excellent education our school provides and of the friendly, caring and cooperative atmosphere in our very special school.

We trust you will enjoy our website, where you will find out more about our school aims, philosophy and daily life - and how we actively plan to give your child the very best education we can offer.

The school was inspected in September 2011;

Ofsted found that pupils go to a good school and make good progress through school and reach standards which are above average. The headteacher, staff and the governing body work very hard to make your school the best it can be and take outstanding care of pupils and their behaviour and attendance are excellent. Pupils have an outstanding understanding of how to keep fit and healthy and love the many opportunities for sports and games. Pupils enjoy their lessons and feel teachers give them practical and fun things to learn about. Parents and carers are extremely proud of our school.

Should parents wish to read the full Ofsted report, this can be found by following the link on our School Website at http://www.eastcowton.n-yorks.sch.uk/information/reports/

At East Cowton Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School we are extremely fortunate to have a very talented team of dedicated staff, supportive governors and a thriving Friends of East Cowton School group, to which all parents are invited. Throughout the year the Friends of East Cowton School help in numerous ways by organising and arranging fundraising and social events.

As part of a federation with Kirkby Fleetham C of E (VC) School, we value partnership working and enjoy many shared events with other children, not only in the federation, but also  in the Northallerton Small Schools Cluster.

If you are a prospective parent, we look forward to showing you round our school where you will be assured of a warm welcome. Please telephone the school office any morning to make an appointment to tour the school. If your child is joining us, we very much look forward to working with you and your child in a friendly and fruitful partnership.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Helen Dudman

Head Teacher
